Warning

Please follow these instructions each time you are installing or updating. Failure to do so may result in Intact.Simulation for Grasshopper not working properly.

  1. If Rhino is running, close it.

  2. Run the installer Intact_InstallerV*.exe.

  3. Start Rhino and test the installation.

Changelog from Major Updates

Update: July 14 2025

Changes:

  • Reaction forces: Add a “Loads” output to Stress Simulation block which outputs the reaction forces and moments, and the applied forces and moments, to better perform load balance checks on a simulation

  • Improve the material input validation, for example to prevent a thermal material being used as input to a stress simulation

  • Allow unit system to be specified for displacement boundary condition, instead of using the document’s unit system

  • Create simulations in an asynchronous task, which is killed when the solution expires, to prevent hundreds of simulations from starting and running

  • Improve support of Rhino geometry types

  • Display a timer showing how long simulation has been running

  • Provide better solver setting defaults by using an iterative solver

  • and more

Bug fixes:

  • When using a list of loads, apply the selected unit system to all loads

  • Fix units in display of temperature field

  • and more

Update: Nov 5 2024

  • Added topology optimization with a new LevelOpt block. See documentation here

  • Improve the error message when no simulation results are available for visualization

  • Correctly display the direction of vector load glyphs

  • Fix issue when applying a single displacement boundary condition to multiple boundaries

Update: February 5 2024

  • Plugin update for Rhino 8 (will not work with Rhino 7)

  • Auto and Manual mode to the solvers: a new Boolean input to each solver to control if it solves automatically or requires manual intervention. See automation for more information and Ex-6: Automation of a variable geometry heat sink for example files.

  • Support for List input for easily specifying a large number of loads, or composite plies with different orientations, for example. More information can be seen at Using lists for Intact components.

  • Allow material as input to sampler block, to allow sampling multi-material assemblies. For up to date information on this component block see Solution Sampler.

  • When reading an archived solution, display glyphs to indicate the boundary conditions

  • Pretty print simulation scenario configuration for archived solutions

Update: October 26 2023

Update: July 27 2023

  • Improvements to Units handling. (Now specify units independently to, for example, loading condition blocks)

  • Support for VDB Models. An example problem can be found here.

  • Specify number of CPU threads for the solver to use

  • Free-Free Modal Simulation

  • Displacement Boundary Conditions for partial and non-homogeneous boundary conditions

  • Custom thermal material block <materials-label>

  • Solver Settings block now uses cell size if resolution and cell size are both defined.

  • Added warning if visualization block is unable to read the solution after solving.

  • Analytics are now collected. Details can be found in permission page during installation.

  • Panels can now be connected to blocks for additional information (see video below).
